Fremont, calif. —August 6, 2013 — American Portwell Technology, Inc. (http://www.portwell.com), announces the latest network adapter that uses the dual-port Intel® 82599ES 10G Ethernet Controller with Portwell’s Gen 3 bypass design. The 100 percent software-controlled bypass interface on Portwell’s new BPC-54120 provides a network module with high speed connectivity from board to board without exposing wired design.
The new BPC-54120 also supports Intel VMDq and PIC-SIG SR-IOV; IEEE 1588, 802.1AS and Jumbo Frame; PCIe 2.0 interface; and Direct Cache Access (DCA). As a feature of the Intel SR-IOV technology, Portwell’s BPC-54120 supports virtual machine software including VMware®, Microsoft®, Dell™ Citrix Solutions, Oracle® and others.
American Portwell’s new BPC-54120 network adapter is the ideal solution for high-end server appliances and inline network systems that need to maintain connectivity with a fail-over/bypass functionality.
Maintains Performance Integrity
“Our new BPC-54120 is a dual port, one pair segment bypass card delivering high speed connection, based on low-loss board-to-board fiber bypass module design instead of exposing wired design,” says Oliver Chen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing manager. “The BPC-54120 is targeted at high-end server appliances and inline network systems that need to maintain network connectivity in the event of a system failure or loss of power,” Chen explains. “It provides an effective solution to these problems through our Generation 3 bypass function, which supports Normal Mode, Bypass mode and Open mode during system incidents and is able to maintain system availability without sacrificing performance.”
Long Product Lifecycle Support
Frank Shen, American Portwell’s vice president of product marketing believes BPC-54120’s special Fiber Bypass Module design can support higher throughput performance, longer product life and more reliable traffic than other fiber bypass cards currently on the market. “Maintaining connectivity in the event of system failure is an essential feature in any network adapter,” says Shen, “as is a long product lifecycle. Portwell always designs and develops its products with one eye on the bottom line and the other eye on making things as future-proof as possible. And as always,” Shen continues, “our customers not only benefit from the most up-to-date technology and features, but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product.”
