FREMONT, CALIF. —March 30, 2010— Customers looking for modular computing solutions with an ultra compact footprint (70mm x 70mm) and green, energy saving technologies will find their needs fulfilled with the PQ7-M103XL, a new Qseven (Q7) open standard module based on Intel Atom processor from American Portwell Technology, Inc. (http://www.portwell.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the embedded computing market and a member of the Intel Embedded Alliance. Available now, the PQ7-M103XL Qseven module with its companion PQ7-C100XL 3.5” ESB form factor developer carrier board is perfect for low power, wide temperature and fanless devices such as medical, industrial control, gaming and COTS military.
Ultra compact PQ7-M103XL Qseven module board
The PQ7-M103XL is based on the open standard Qseven form factor featuring ultra low power and ultra compact size at mere 70mm x 70mm. Built with Intel’s Atom Z510PT (1.1 GHz) or Z520PT (1.33 GHz) processor and Intel System Controller Hub (SCH) US15WPT, Portwell’s PQ7-M103XL Qseven module is capable of operating in an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The module supports two SATA ports, and up to three PCI-E x1 lanes, dual independent display via LVDS and SVDO, onboard 512MB or 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, an onboard NAND Flash with 1GB flash and optional upgrade to 8GB, and industrial-grade Gigabit Ethernet.
Shorten time to market
Portwell’s PQ7-M103XL Qseven modular computing solution safeguards development investments and lowers total cost of ownership. PQ7-M103XL can help minimize current and future design risks. It can help development time and costs during initial phase of development, while helping to achieve a faster time-to-market, a simplified future upgrade path, scalability and an increased application lifecycle. In addition, Portwell also can provide services to customers on the carrier board design and development, review schematics and BIOS customization.
PQ7-C100XL developer carrier board
Designed as a Qseven developer carrier board for PQ7-M103XL, this 3.5˝ ESB form factor embedded system board also supports an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. PQ7-C100XL features one VGA port and one LVDS for dual independent display, one Gigabit Ethernet port, two SATA ports, seven USB ports, onboard 12V DC to DC circuit for DC-in applications, and an expansion capacity that includes one SDIO socket, one PCI, one PCI-E x1 and one mini-PCI Express.
Ultra-low-power, extended temp and cost-saving
According to Jimmy Chang, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing manager, the PQ7-M103XL’s ultra low (<5W) CPU and SCH TDP encourages fanless operation. “Both the module and the developer carrier board support an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C for the kind of wide operating range applications found in government, military, medical and industrial control,” Chang confirms. “We also make the boards from smaller components so our customers can cut costs. Not only that,” Chang adds, “but the module’s ultra compact size—a mere 70mm x 70mm—saves space, which also cuts costs.”
Long product life cycle support
Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing director points out that the new PQ7-M103XL adds to the company’s expanding portfolio of Atom-based products. “Portwell’s Atom-based Qseven product line includes PQ7-M100G, PQ7-M101G and PQ7-M102XL,” he confirms. “Our customers not only benefit from American Portwell’s ability to consistently provide the most up-to-date technology and features,” Shen states, “but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product.”
