New NAR-4060 can operate as PCI DSS compliant server

FREMONT, CALIF. -- March 24, 2009 -- American Portwell Technology, Inc., (http://www.portwell.com) a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the industry of Communication/ Internet Security Appliances and a member of the Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance, has expanded its high-performance 1U communication appliance portfolio with the new NAR-4060, a reliable, compact 1U rackmount server with six PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet ports. The NAR-4060 is regulatory certification-ready, including FCC, CE and UL. Driven by the Intel® 945GC chipset—which supports FSB 800/533 MHz—the new NAR-4060 also supports: Intel Celeron® 400 series 35W processors; dual-channel DDR2 667/533/400 DIMM (up to 4GB); one 3.5˝ IDE or SATA HDD; Compact Flash (CF); and SATA Disk-on-Module (DOM).

By supporting the Celeron 400 series, Portwell’s NAR-4060 is able to combine high performance with the power efficiency of a low-power micro architecture. Its 6 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet ports meet the mainstream demand of 4 to 6 ports and the PCI-E lanes connect directly to the Ethernet controllers to provide peak bandwidth of 2GB/s per direction for Gigabit Ethernet support at wire speed. The NAR-4060 includes a compact chassis design of a mere 16.9˝ (W) x 10.04˝ (D) x 1.73˝ (H) that saves valuable space and also reduces unit shipping costs. The NAR-4060 is not only RoHS compliant but also environmentally friendly.

Available now, Portwell’s new NAR-4060 1U communication appliance platform is the ideal solution for communication/security applications such as Enterprise Internet Security Gateway, Firewall, WAN optimization, Anti-virus Server, Unified Threat Management (UTM), Load Balancing, Network Access Control, Web Applications Delivery, Media Gateway and Triple Play broadcasting for both the enterprise and medium-sized offices. Other applications include Medical DICOM and PACS Server, and as a security hardware platform meeting the requirements of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

Ideal for Network Security
“The new NAR-4060 is built with the flexibility for OEM branding. It is a great choice for network security applications in the SMB market and embedded applications that require rackmount platforms,” says Mark Huang, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing manager. “A huge benefit of the new NAR-4060 in this age of identity theft and the like,” Huang explains, “is that it is designed to be the ideal hardware platform for building the PCI DSS, HIPAA and SOX data security systems. This allows our software solution partners to bring their complete solutions for helping retail merchants and other organizations protect customer personal data to the market fast and ahead of competition.”

Great Performance per Watt and per Cubic Inch
“With its lower power consumption and space-saving footprint, the NAR-4060 delivers great performance per watt and per cubic inch,” says Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing director. “This means that customers can save energy costs and use their space more effectively for 24x7 operations with Portwell’s NAR-4060.”

“Our customers also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product,” Shen confirms.
