FREMONT, CALIF.– September9, 2009 -- American Portwell Technology, Inc., (http://www.portwell.com) a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a member of the Intel Embedded and Communications Alliance, has launched its new ROBO-8779VG2A, an Intel Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo/ Celeron® processor-based PICMG 1.0 SBC with DDR3 SDRAM, VGA, DVI, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, Audio and USB.

American Portwell’s ROBO-8779VG2A Core 2 Quad-based PICMG 1.0 SBC is the ideal solution for applications in industrial automation and control, medical imaging equipment, digital security surveillance and network security.
Great Computing Performance and Optimized 3D Graphics
“The new ROBO-8779VG2A offers great computing performance because it is powered by up to four processor execution cores via the Intel Core 2 Quad,” says Jack Lam, American Portwell Technology’s senior product marketing manager. Featuring the latest Intel G41 Express Chipset with GMA X4500, our new ROBO-8779VG2A delivers enhanced video, optimized 3D graphics, responsiveness and scalability, as well as the high speed performance available via dual Gigabit Ethernet,“ Lam adds.
Backwards Compatibility for Future Planning
Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing director is the first to confirm that longevity and legacy support are two of the most important factors for customers in the PICMG 1.0 marketplace. “The dilemma has been that users want the latest CPU to increase productivity, yet they need all of their legacy components to continue to function without fault,” Shen explains. “Normally, the latest and greatest processors are often not backwards compatible and leave legacy systems gathering dust. That’s something that American Portwell does not condone.”
“Our new ROBO-8779VG2A gives our customers the best of both worlds,” Shen affirms. “The modern world of the Intel 775 CPU from Core 2 Quad to Celeron... and the legacy world of PCI and ISA slots and AT power mode. Not only that,” Shen continues, “but our customers also benefit from the peace of mind they get from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product.”
