WADE-8070 is off-the-shelf solution for multiple applications

FREMONT, CALIF. – November 21, 2008 -- American Portwell Technology, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the embedded computing market and a member of the Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance (Intel ECA), has designed and developed the WADE-8070. Built with the Intel “Navy Pier” platform, the new WADE-8070 is an Intel Atom™ N270 processor and 945GSE/ICH7-M mobile chipset-based Mini-ITX embedded system board with multiple video interfaces, Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), two SATA ports, four COM ports and six USB ports that provides low power consumption in a true fanless configuration.

American Portwell’s WADE-8070 is specifically designed to support the enriched display interfaces required by medical and digital signage. The WADE-8070’s multiple independent display functionality can be implemented by VGA, DVI and LVDS interfaces. An additional display function can easily be activated via a PCI-E x1 expansion graphic card. Functionality can also be expanded via a Mini-PCI.

Measuring a mere 170 mm x 170 mm, the WADE-8070 is the ideal solution for low power and small form factor devices in applications such as retail automation, POS, medical equipment, healthcare automation, industrial process control, battery-operated devices, media servers, gaming machines, VoIP, COTS military and digital signage.

More Mini-ITX solutions with Intel® Atom™
“The Mini-ITX form factor is one of the most demanded embedded solutions at Portwell,” says Jimmy Chang, product marketing manager, American Portwell Technology. “The new WADE-8070 is a perfect addition to a range of products that respond to this attention to market demands: a well-engineered, off-the-shelf solution that can readily address the needs of Mini-ITX form factor for low power consumption and multiple (dual or triple) displays. Portwell’s close ties with Intel enable us to take advantage of technologies such as the Atom N270 processor and 945GSE/ICH7-M chipset, and put them to work in the Mini-ITX, one of the most cost-effective form factors. It also means that we can offer customers greater flexibility of functional expansion and the peace of mind of long lifecycle support,” he adds.

More Intel® Atom™ in Portwell product portfolio
“We have already offered our customers Intel Atom-based ECX and Nano-ITX embedded solutions, but we didn’t stop there,” says Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing director. “In true Portwell style, we added even more choices and values ‘under the hood.’ ”
“WADE-8070 is another valuable Intel Atom-based embedded board from Portwell that delivers a great set of features to fulfill the needs of the embedded market for a reliable, off-the-shelf solution that is low power and cost-effective.”
