FREMONT, CA. — August 27, 2018 — American Portwell Technology, Inc., a world-leading innovator for Industrial PC (IPC) and embedded computing solutions, and an associate member of the Intel Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Alliance. (http://www.portwell.com), announces the latest addition to its APTNS series with a 1U rackmount network communication appliance that features scalable and upgradable computing performance and easy expansion of high-speed network interfaces.

Powered by Intel’s Xeon processor D family and Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake/Coffee Lake), the new APTNS supports up to 17 LAN ports for a wide range of appliances. According to Frank Yeh, Portwell’s product marketing manager, the new APTNS 1U rackmount network communications appliance unit is designed to support a wide variety of applications, primarily in the enterprise network security arena and deliver an outstanding combination of performance, flexibility and upgradeability in applications such as data center network server, firewall, access point control, unified threat management and as a software defined server.

“The APTNS’ modularized COM Express design provides a greater selection of Intel processors, smooths the upgrade process,” says Yeh, “and delivers an outstanding combination of performance flexibility, stability and reliability. The COM Express design itself benefits customers by enabling them to select a variety of different processor modules without re-inventing the wheel. In addition,” Yeh continues, “the Xeon D Processor and Intel mobile processing modules enables power savings together with power consumption to support our customers in the energy conservation initiatives.”

Yeh further explains that the hot-swappable fan and optional redundant power supply unit not only support quick and easy field maintenance but also extended stability and reliability for enterprise applications. “It also features rich I/O for versatile applications, dual-channel memory up to 96 GB and two 2.5˝ SATA HD,” he adds.

Faster Time to The Market of Next Generation Upgrade
“The new APTNS 1U rackmount network control appliance is designed for modular upgradability because customers can directly change the CPU in a snap, thus reducing time to market with up-to-date micro-processor technology,” says Robert Feng, American Portwell’s product marketing director. “Since neither the system nor the carrier board need to change, this results in faster time-to-market. In addition,” Feng adds, “our customers not only benefit from the most up-to-date technology and features, but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product.”
