Micro Data Center


A micro data center (MDC) is small-scale modular data center architecture designed for computer workloads not requiring traditional facilities and is a pragmatic way to smooth the implementation of edge computing in the real world. An MDC includes a built-in power systems, security systems, cooling systems, fire protection, security, and monitoring and management systems.

MDCs are compact enough to be rapidly deployed indoors or outdoors, in remote locations, for a branch office, or for temporary use in high-risk zones where a more traditional data center would be impractical. They enable distributed workloads, minimizing downtime and increasing speed of response by reducing the geography between client and server computers.

The strengthened structure of a Portwell containerized data center provides protection against harsh environment: dust/water, salt-spray, fire, wind, earthquake, and more and are ready to be deployed in rugged areas and where they can be in service for 10 plus years.

Integrated with UPS, PDU, Cooling, Battery, Security, Fire Suppression, Monitoring and Management Systems, Portwell’s MDC eliminates the need for civil engineering to build or upgrade the facility and reduces time for installation.

The prefabricated and pre-tested structure also requires a substantially smaller up-front capital investment than the traditional data center construction.
