New CAR-6000 supports dual Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v3 product family and Intel® C610 chipset

FREMONT, CALIF. . —November 6, 2015—CAR-6000, the latest rackmount network security appliance offering from American Portwell Technology, Inc. (, operates more efficiently and delivers higher performance than its predecessor by using high-end 1U design to provide maximum scalability and functionality. The new 1U rackmount network security appliance supports the Intel single or dual Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family and Intel C610 chipset. CAR-6000 features 8 DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM/UDIMM slots, up to 4 front-access NIC modules, redundant power supply, 4 field-replaceable unit (FRU) fan units and an IPMI 2.0-based module.

According to Andy Yu, American Portwell’s project manager, the new CAR-6000 provides greater performance through its implementation of the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 and access to up to 128GB of ECC memory. It also heightens flexibility by featuring up to four 2.5˝ HDD and up to 32 GbE RJ45/SFP ports. Reliability is ensured by 400W AC/DC redundant power supply unit.  “Available in Q1 of 2016, the new CAR-6000 is the ideal choice for enterprise network security applications such as Next Generation (NG) Firewall, UTM integrated with anti-spam functionality, anti-virus, VPN and IDS/IPS, as well as network management applications, including routers, gateways, load balancer, application delivery controller and bandwidth management appliance,” says Yu.

More Energy Efficient, Higher Performance, Greater Flexibility and Reliability
“By taking the fullest advantage of the architecture of the Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 processors, we have been able to design and create a new high-end 1U network security appliance that delivers advanced performance in a significantly reduced footprint,” Yu explains. “Not only that, but its extended scalability translates into greater cost efficiency. Customers using our new CAR-6000 can now support the demanding workloads of network analytics, cyber security, policy enforcement and QoS network applications,” he adds.

Value-Added Solutions and Long Product Lifecycle Support
“The scalability of the new CAR-6000 platform is designed to ensure seamless upgrading to future generations of the Intel Xeon product family,” says Frank Shen, American Portwell’s vice president of product marketing. “It delivers advanced features that will help our customers offer more value-added solutions as well as higher levels of reliability and serviceability.

“Portwell always designs and develops its products with one eye on the bottom line and the other eye on making things as future-proof as possible,” Shen explains. “And as always,” Shen continues, “our customers not only benefit from the most up-to-date technology and features, but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support (7+ years) inherent with every Portwell product.”
